Many people often deny the impact of infant circumcision by calling it "a little snip." 

It's not so lttle. It's about 15 square inches (the size of an index card) of specialized sexual tissue. It is not 'extra' or 'redundant',  in that no other part of the body does what the foreskin does, or feels what the foreskin feels. The foreskin is the most erogenous area of the penis and it is there for a very good reason.

That's because the foreskin is fused to the head of the penis at birth. In order to remove it, they first have to pry it off. This is akin to peeling off your fingernail. After they have scraped it away from the head (glans) they can proceed to amputate it. 'Painful' is a gross understatement!
